Why do men like soccer so much?

Posted on February 9, 2022 By modafinil911 No Comments on Why do men like soccer so much?

One of the great mysteries for every girl is to understand why most men like soccer so much.l. In fact, “liking” would be too limited to describe some cases; there are guys who are so devoted to soccer that when there’s a game you can say goodbye to them for a couple of hours.

Although many of them cope with it more or less well, it seems that there are kids who are mentally kidnapped. And we are not just talking about one game a week, no, there are weekend competitions, mid-week, etc. When it’s not his team’s game, it’s the rival team or even another team from another country.

The 8 basic reasons why men like soccer so much

Why do men like soccer so much? What’s wrong with them? Why so much time spent on it? It’s just 22 guys behind a ball, isn’t it? Is there really something behind it that escapes us?

Here are the answers to these questions that haunt you, because some of the following points may not have occurred to you. But yes, reading some phrases you will imagine the spitting image of your father, your boyfriend, your friend, …

1. Excitement

Have you seen those men who scream in front of the TV, those who gesticulate with desperation and put their hands on their heads in the stadiums, those who jump out of their seats when they see their team score and shake their arms energetically?

It seems that for many men, soccer makes them vibrate like nothing else in life.. Seeing a man cry with joy on a soccer field for an important victory would not be a surprise. Maybe it would be off the field … there is no doubt that with soccer they express themselves a lot.

2. Disconnect

We’re not going to be surprised by this at this point; men like to disconnect.. We also like to stop thinking about our problems and do our own thing, but men seem to reach an incomprehensible level for us.

When they disconnect, they take it literally. It seems that thinking about nothing but soccer gives them a kind of sense of freedom that is hard for us to understand.

3. Parent-child bonding

Many of the boys who are soccer fans remember with nostalgia those times when they used to watch the game or even go to the stadium with their father.

This memory of being able to share an adult space with the father can be very important.. Many parents are proud that their children share their favorite entertainment, and the child picks up on this and becomes more interested in soccer.

However, each case is different, and there are even children who use their interest in soccer as an act of rebellion or punishment towards their father. These children are interested in the opposite team to their parents, which is called “the eternal rival”.

4. Identity, sense of belonging and socialization

This kind of inheritance that in many cases the father leaves behind becomes something similar to what one experiences with religion or homeland; it is something immovable for life.

Being a member of a team is for a man a kind of sign of identity.. It is one more trait that would define a person, like nationality, profession or other hobbies. In fact, many kids are much more capable of changing city, country, job, or even friends or partner! than they are of changing their soccer team.

Identity is always a construction that has a lot to do with the social. Thus, we are talking about a feeling of belonging to a group of people who share a common goal, and that is that their team is at the top.

Sharing everything that soccer awakens in them with other men creates strong bonds with soccer itself and with other people..

5. Assured rivalry

It is said that soccer has inherited the warlike characteristic of mankind. The longing for war would have been channeled in this way in our societies for the benefit of all. Therefore, part of soccer is competitiveness, and soccer drinks from the rivalry between groups.

In this way, many soccer teams live rivalry as part of their DNA.. Most soccer teams have identified a particular opposing team that they have a special affinity for.

It can be a rivalry between town teams, between different teams in different neighborhoods of the same city, or the great rivalries between the most followed teams in a country.

As great rivalries to highlight in Spanish-speaking countries are:

  • FC vs Real Madrid (Spain)
  • Boca Juniors vs River Plate (Argentina)
  • América – Guadalajara (Mexico)
  • Colo Colo vs Universidad de Chile (Chile)
  • Nacional vs Peñarol (Uruguay)

6. Opinion and strategy

One of the reasons why men like the confrontation is because it gives the opportunity to develop an idea or a strategy.. Just as in war, one must consider how to attack, how to defend, how to counter-attack, have an ace up one’s sleeve, etc.

In addition, all the mental representation and interpretation of what happens on the field of play is a fertile ground for everyone to say their own. Even the most inexperienced soccer player is capable of expressing his opinion on how good that player is, or how badly the coach has planned the match.

Everything in the end is a window that invites the man to express his point of view to other people in relation to a game. to other people in relation to a strategy game. It certainly makes for a lot of chitchat with his friends.

7. Biological response

It has been scientifically proven that there is a part of a man’s brain that is particularly activated when there is a soccer match.. It’s called the anterior cingulate cortex, and it’s also activated when he’s in bed with you. When your team scores a goal, this area is activated to the maximum.

In addition, testosterone levels also rise and it’s as if they are playing the game themselves.. Their heart rate also goes up and down. In general their sympathetic nervous system is activated and it is not until after the game that they return to normal or, in fact, more tired than usual.

8. Differences between men do not exist

One thing that seems positive about soccer is that within the world of soccer it seems that every man has a place. No matter how humble a player’s background, he is going to have the opportunity to play with the big boys.. The same if he is of a different race, because soccer does not understand this, only how well they hit the ball.

In this way, even in front of the same TV set or in front of a stadium, people from all walks of life and social classes get together to follow soccer together. It is something that benefits them, because they can forget about other differences that prevent them from being more spontaneous with each other.
